The Story
This November, McDonald's Restaurants from Kitchener to Fort Erie came together in an inspiring show of community support, raising over $123,000 in the Round Up for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) fundraising challenge. McDonald’s Owner Operators in South Central Ontario approached RMHCSCO with a campaign idea, and eager McDonald’s crew, ready to offer additional support heading into the holiday season.
Whether customers rounded up their bills at the counter or donated in the drive-thru, each gesture, no matter the size, contributed to this remarkable outcome. The funds raised through this effort will provide an incredible 495 nights of care and support for families with seriously ill or injured children; a powerful reminder of the difference a community can make when people rally together with a common purpose: to keep families close when they need it most.
Mario De Divitiis, CEO of RMHC SCO, shared, “We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of generosity from McDonald’s Owner-Operators, their teams, and their communities of customers. The funds raised during the Round Up campaign will have a lasting impact on the families we serve, helping to ensure they have a safe and supportive environment during one of the most trying times in their lives.”
Each dollar donated through the Round Up campaign directly impacts the families staying at RMHC South Central Ontario (SCO). For those facing unimaginable challenges, the campaign offers more than just financial support—it provides a place to stay, nutritious meals, emotional comfort, and the invaluable opportunity to remain close to their child during their most difficult times.
RMHC SCO receives about 30% of its funding from McDonald’s Restaurants in our catchment area, the remainder is made possible by the ongoing efforts of dedicated individuals, businesses, and organizations across South Central Ontario, who work tirelessly to support the RMHC mission.
The success of this season’s Round Up campaign highlights the incredible spirit of giving that exists within the McDonald’s family. The campaign is a perfect example of how local communities, driven by local operators, can come together to make a significant, positive impact.
With $123,000 raised, the families staying at RMHC SCO can rest assured that their "home away from home" is well-supported. As we head into the holiday season, the Round Up campaign serves as a powerful reminder of how a small gesture to “Round Up” your bill at McDonald’s, can make a significant difference in supporting families in need.
