Our House

Our Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families with a child staying at McMaster Children's Hospital in Hamilton, and is located just steps away from the Hospital.

A Home Away From Home

Opened in 1993, our 40-bedroom Ronald McDonald House, located just steps away from McMaster Children's Hospital, serves families from across the South Central Ontario.

Whether you're from Niagara to Hamilton-Halton, from Brant to Kitchener-Waterloo, we provide families with a child being treated in hospital the opportunity to stay close when they need it most.

Our House offers families a private bedroom along with shared common space that includes a kitchen, dining room, family lounge, playroom, laundry facilities and much more.

Amenities & Services

Our House offers a variety of services and amenities to provide families with some fun and relaxation during difficult times.

Private Family Guest Rooms

Our house offers 40 private family guest rooms. The guest rooms are similar to a hotel room in design and are equipped with either one or two queen-sized beds and a pull-out couch. All rooms also include an ensuite bathroom, a mini-fridge, and ample storage.

Family Kitchen, Pantry & Dining Room

Our family kitchen houses all major kitchen appliances and is stocked with all the basics for our families wishing to prepare their own meal at any time, day or night. We thank our community for donating the food supplied to keep our cupboards stocked.

Large dining room and smaller, cozy cafe spaces are available for families to enjoy meals. We also have a family pantry with designated cupboard and fridge space for families to store their own personal food supplies.

On-site Laundry Facilities

Our family laundry facilities are located on each of the two guest floors and are available 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week. Complimentary laundry detergent is also available.

Movie Theatre

Families can enjoy some quality time in our Movie Theatre. We also host Family Movie Nights on Friday and Saturday evenings where families can relax with some theatre popcorn and a fun family film.

Play Room

Kids can take a dive in our underwater themed playroom. Our room is full of toys for little ones to play with and features our fish tank where our underwater friends live. The room is conveniently located next to a windowed seating area for parents and guardians.

Games Room

The Games Room is fun for the entire family! It includes:

  • Two separate spaces for families to relax and watch TV
  • A pool table
  • A ping pong table
  • Retro gaming station
  • Gaming station with PS5 and Nintendo Switch

The Games Room is a great spot to host birthday parties or family gatherings while you're staying at our House.

Outdoor Play Area

Our outdoor play area is a large space for kids to run around. It includes,

  • Chalk boards
  • Soccer net and ball
  • Jungle gym with slide and play kitchen
  • Training bicycle
  • Many other toys for big and little kids!

Serenity Garden & Outdoor Patio

Whether you want to take a relaxing break in nature or enjoy a meal outdoors, our Serenity Garden is the perfect place. Seasonally we host BBQs, events, and movie nights in our Serenity Garden.

Fitness Room

A fully equipped exercise room is available for our guests (18 years and over) to use until 11 p.m. each day.

Wellness Room

De-compress in one of our massage chairs or unwind with some relaxing yoga. Our spa-like Wellness Room is available for families to enjoy 7 days a week.

Culinary Kitchen

Our House boasts a large culinary kitchen and a full-time chef who prepares breakfast and dinner everyday for our families. At RMHC SCO, we believe our food program is more than just meals, it's nourishment and care to keep our families from running on empty.
