How can my family and I stay at the House?
To stay at our House, you must have a child being treated at McMaster Children's Hospital and be referred by someone from your child's medical team.
Please talk to your child's hospital social worker, nurse, or other medical staff about getting a referral.

How much does it cost to stay?
We request a nominal guest contribution of $12 per night per room which includes the cost of meals and use of all amenities.

Who is eligible to stay at the House?
To be eligible to stay, families need to:
- Have a child (21 years of age or younger) being treated for at a local Hamilton hospital on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
- Live outside of a 45km radius from RMHC®SCO (please note: families living within 45km of RMHC®SCO may also be eligible for accommodation under extenuating circumstances).
- Have a referral from hospital staff social worker, nurse, or other medical staff.
- Please note: In the case of a high risk pregnancy, accommodation may be extended to the partner/family under certain conditions. Please contact the House for more details.
- Please note: Anyone who is suffering from or who has recently been exposed to a communicable illness cannot stay at RMHC®SCO. This includes family members with colds, flu or sore throats. This policy is vital in minimizing risk to children with weak immune systems staying at the House.

Can other family members can stay with me?
Siblings and other family members in a supportive care role are welcome to accompany you at the House. We are only able to offer one guest room per family.
Please note that anyone who is suffering from or who has recently been exposed to a communicable illness cannot stay at RMHC®SCO. This includes family members with colds, flu or sore throats. This policy is vital in minimizing risk to children with weak immune systems staying at the House. -
What facilities are available if I'm staying at the House?
We can offer each family one guest room which includes,
- One or two queen sized beds
- Private en suite bathroom
- Pull-out couch
- Ample Storage Space
- Mini-Fridge
- One parking space per guest room
Our House also offers the following amenities:
- Kitchen with appliances
- Dining Room
- Fridge and pantry space
- Laundry Room
- Nursing Room with hospital grade pump
- Games Rooms
- Fitness Centre
- Movie Theatre
- Serenity Garden with seating

What can I expect when I arrive at the House?
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by a staff member who will meet with you about your stay and provide you with a full tour of our House.
Our family guest rooms are similar to a hotel room in design and are equipped with either two queen-sized beds or one queen-sized bed and a pull-out couch.
All guest rooms also include a full ensuite bathroom, a mini-fridge, and ample storage.
Common spaces include lounges, communal kitchen, laundry room, nursing rooms, games room, movie theatre, and fitness room.

Can I stay at the House again if I stayed before?
When you child is returning for continuing medical care for the same condition, you may call us directly at 905-521-9983 ext. 2107 to request accommodations (subject to availability.)

Is there a minimum or maximum length of stay?
Families can stay for as long as their child continues to receive inpatient treatment at McMaster Children's Hospital.

What are the food and kitchen options?
We provide breakfast and dinner daily served in our Dining Room. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available daily.
Families can prepare their own meals in our communal kitchen. We also offer private fridge space & pantry storage for each family.
Coffee, tea, other beverages, and snacks are available daily.

Who can use the Family Rooms?
Anyone with a child being treated at McMaster Children's Hospital can use either of our two Family Rooms and the amenities available.

Where are the Family Rooms located in the Hospital?
The Family Rooms are located on the third floor of McMaster Children's Hospital.
The Red Family Room is located behind the red section elevators in 3G.
The Yellow Family Room is located behind the yellow elevators in 3X.

Each of our two Family Rooms in McMaster Children's Hospitals are equipped with the following:

What time are the Family Rooms open?
The Red Section Family Room is open daily from 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
The Yellow Section Family Room is open 24/7 with access to amenities on Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

The Family Rooms are run by a team of RMHC SCO volunteers.

Do I need a referral to use the Family Rooms?
You do not need a referral to use the Family Rooms. Anyone with a child being treated at McMaster Children's Hospital can use the Family Rooms.
